Radiant Wonder has developed an herbal formula based on Traditional Chinese Medicine for Herpes Simplex Virus Type 1 and 2.

Often referred to as fever blisters or cold sores, HSV Type 1 infections are tiny, clear, fluid-filled blisters that most often occur on the face.

There are two kinds of infections – primary and recurrent. Although most people get infected when exposed to the virus, only 10 percent will actually develop sores. The sores of a primary infection appear two to twenty days after contact with an infected person and can last from seven to ten days.

The sores from the primary infection heal completely and rarely leave a scar. However, the virus that caused the infection remains in the body. It moves to nerve cells where it remains in a resting state.

Constructing an effective formula involves more than just combining herbs together to obtain a certain effect. One needs an organizing principle to guide construction so that the herbs may combine their effectiveness to compliment each other. Clear Simplex #1 has been specifically formulated for the cold sores and fever blisters caused by the Herpes Simplex Virus Type 1 (HSV-1). This is not the same virus which causes genital herpes. That is HSV-2, and we have a separate formula for relief from the outbreaks caused by HSV-2 (Clear Simplex #2).

People who have canker sores, fever blisters, cold sores understand that it is coming from a virus which lives in the body and will remain in the system for life. There is currently no cure for the HS Viruses. However, there is a greater understanding of the triggers which may allow the cold sore to start. Stress and/or a weakened immune system can play big parts in the number and severity of the outbreaks.

It is best to understand the virus in two stages:

Dormant Stage:

Dormant actually means sleeping. This is when the virus is not active but still present. During this stage it is good to do what you can to maintain a strong immune system. We recommend a good immune support formula such as Immune System Formula, or Radiant Immune Defense.

Active Stage:

A cold sore starts out as a small bubble like break in the skin (lesion), which usually reaches a blister stage within 24 hours. At first you only feel some tingling or itching in a localized area. A cold sore will usually last for a period of 6 to 10 days. Eventually the lesion eventually forms a hard crust, scabs over and falls off. These cold sores are usually on the lips or mouth region, sometimes inside the cheek. Rarely they appear on the face itself.
